Terms of use

Updated 9 September 2026

Asset.Family is a record-keeping tool. It helps you write down what you own and who it passes to, and assemble documents out of those records. Below is what that means in practice, and what not to expect from it.

What Asset.Family is

The service lets you keep an inventory of property and liabilities, store the related documents, record ownership and inheritance shares, log life events and prepare drafts of legal documents.

You enter all of the content yourself. The service does not verify or certify either the information or the documents attached to it.

This is not a legal service

Asset.Family is not a law firm, a notary's office or an adviser. We do not provide legal assistance and we do not review your documents.

The will, the financial power of attorney and the healthcare directive that the service produces are drafts, assembled from the data you entered using general templates. Formal requirements for such documents differ from country to country and often include notarisation, witnesses, handwriting or registration. A PDF produced by the service does not by itself make a document valid.

Before you rely on such a document, have it reviewed by a lawyer or notary in the jurisdiction whose law applies to you.

This is not financial or tax advice

Values, sums and totals in the registry are calculated from the numbers you entered yourself. The service does not appraise property, does not check it against any market and gives no recommendations on investments, transactions or taxes.

Your account

  • The service is for adults.
  • Use a working email address: it carries the registration confirmation and the password reset.
  • Keeping your password safe is your responsibility. We cannot recover it — we can only help you set a new one.
  • Do not hand access to anyone else: the service cannot tell you apart from whoever signed in with your password.

Your data stays yours

Everything you enter and upload remains yours. We claim no rights over that content, do not use it for our own purposes and do not train models on it.

We need rights only to the extent without which we could not show you your own records, assemble documents from them and keep a backup for recovery after a failure.

What you may not do

  • Enter other people's personal data without a lawful basis. When you add an heir, an attorney-in-fact or a family member, you are responsible for the lawfulness of doing so.
  • Upload content that breaks the law or infringes other people's rights.
  • Attempt to reach other people's accounts, circumvent technical limits or place excessive load on the service through automated requests.

The service is provided as is

We are still building Asset.Family and we do not promise uninterrupted operation. Expect maintenance windows, bugs and changes in functionality.

The service does not replace your own archive. Keep the originals of important documents where you kept them before — the service holds copies and records about them.

We are responsible for maintaining the service in good faith. We are not responsible for decisions taken on the basis of records kept in it, for the legal validity of the documents it prepares, or for losses that did not arise through our fault.

Ending use

You may stop using the service at any time. We may restrict access to an account that is used in breach of these terms or of the law.

Changes to these terms

The terms change along with the service. The date of the last change is shown at the top of this page. By continuing to use the service after a change, you accept the new version.
